Easy Mulled Wine
I’ll never forget a mug of shared mulled wine one night in Manhattan. It was with a friend of a friend – an aspiring model whoI actually never saw again. But that night together talking boys and dreams and New Year’s Eve plans was one that I’ll remember forever. It was the quintessential snowy New York night full of spontaneity, fresh falling snow, and thoughts of nothing but my future ahead of me.
Now, eight years later I’m replicating that recipe and sipping this perfect holiday treat, soaking in a season that is marked by zero spontaneity (unless you could impromptu midnight wakings to nurse a baby!), and zero snow (SoCal), but still plenty of goodness to cherish.
Here’s my Easy Mulled Wine Recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle of red wine (I used Cabernet)
1/4 cup brandy
4 Cinnamon sticks (or more)
3 star anise
Half an orange, sliced
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan, over low heat. Simmer about 30 minutes and enjoy immediately.
