Immune Boosting Fermented Honey Garlic
Every year I make this super easy immune-boosting home remedy, fermented honey garlic. You need to be strengthening your immune system before we even get to needing a remedy, but this is actually a double whammy recipe.
Of course, if you can grow your own garlic that is super amazing and gives you the best quality garlic. I have an entire blog post about growing garlic here.
The recipe is so simple, as is the technique. All you need is garlic and raw honey – local honey is best. Then a jar and you’re good to go!

Benefits of Fermented Honey Garlic
Fermented Honey Garlic is two powerhouse ingredients coming together. It acts as an anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. Wowza! Raw garlic in itself is powerful, but fermenting with the honey really makes the remedy palatable.
During fermentation, enzymes are activated in the honey that brings out its natural yeast, making it a great probiotic, and promoting beneficial bacteria growth. The allacin in the garlic is fantastic for you and is known to fight off infection and reduce inflammation. Garlic is also a rich source of magnesium, selenium, vitamins A and C, and so much more.
INGREDIENTS:
Enough peeled garlic cloves to fill your jar (or just fill partway)
Raw, local honey
METHOD:
Peel your garlic cloves, careful not to slice them, but bruising is OK. The water that is released during bruising helps the fermentation. Place all the cloves in a jar and cover them in honey all the way. Loosely cover your jar and store it in a cool, dark place. Every day or so for about a month tighten the lid and shake, then loosen again. After about two days, bubbles should form which tells you the fermentation process is happening.
HOW TO TAKE YOUR GARLIC
As soon as any symptoms come on that are sort of low and fall/wintery (think sniffling and sneezing and achy), take a clove a day or mix it into cooking.
This jar could last over a year, but remember not to serve to any children under one year of age.
Hope you enjoy!
