2 Weeks of Daily Gardening Tasks
Gardening once a day, keeps the doctor away. Isn’t that the old adage?
I noticed that with the onslaught of COVID-19 news I became even more passionate about gardening. About self-reliance. I went to my husband begging him to let me throw up some raised beds ASAP so I can grow our veggies immediately. That was nixed. We have a plan to do it right, and don’t want to overturn that yet.
In the meantime I’m finding, collecting, and making everything possible to allow me to garden and start some seeds. It’s helping me feel a sense of control perhaps. Ultimately it’s helping me feel inspired every day and helping me to lean into my passion in a new way.
For the next two weeks I will be sharing one daily gardening task that I am doing. I don’t currently even have a garden (because I just moved and it isn’t built yet), so if you were beginning to think this wasn’t something you could do, then NOPE! No excuses.
Here is a list of small garden tasks that you can do each day for the next two weeks:
- Start seeds
- Collect things to start seeds in (tin cans, old plastic strawberry containers, egg cartons)
- Start a garden journal (or update yours)
- Make markers for your plants and seedlings
- Harvest herbs to dry
- Plant seedlings
- Use garlic from the store to plant and grow more garlic
- Spread wildflower seeds (you can do this on your property, or out the window while driving!)
- Share something from your garden
- Save eggshells, wash them, and then grind them up to use as a natural pesticide
- Pull weeds
- Prune
- Organize the seed packets you have in order of the month they should be planted
- Fertilize
And one for good measure:
15. Clean shears
Stay sane my friends, and keep gardening. I promise it will uplift you.
