The collision of form and function, but in a garden sense, is the ultimate beauty to me. I got to work with my friend Keri at Sift Ceramics on a handmade ceramic pots line and am absolutely thrilled about it! I just got my hands on our prototypes and am bursting at the seams. There are three items we focused on: a set of three small pots on a tray, intended for starting seeds in a windowsill, a large tray with three larger pots for transplanting up larger herbs and resting them in your home, and some herb markers which are a gardener’s essential.
These items are handmade, labored over by both of us in terms of design and what looks pretty but also is functional. I needed some of the pots to be 4 inches as that is a common size that an herb or small flower plant is sold in, so we created that. I also needed a tray that could rest on a sill, so we created that too. We wanted prettiness in terms of look and feel. We wanted just a little extra – you’ll see that in the gold and some beautiful edge details.
Pots are home decor, they’re plant homes, and they’re a part of everyday life! I hope you love these as much as we do.
Why I Chose Sift Ceramics
Keri who owns Sift Ceramics has become a friend, but I originally just liked the way that she did business. She’s a mom of two, a super passionate, and a very detailed ceramic artist. She understands aesthetics, but also durability. She also is straightforward, kind, and very smart – I just adore her. We originally collaborated on The Gardener’s Mugs, which was a huge success. The Petite Planters
This first set of planters is for smaller plants or seed starting. Designed to sit on a windowsill, the tray catches any water run-off, and of course, looks charming.
The Gilded Tray Set
This set of three pots and a tray is larger, with 4″ pots for potting up or placing transplants. These are a forever home for indoor herbs in my house. I love the elevated look and feel of the tray, making this special and unique.
The Herb Markers
Herb markers are charming and purposeful. I adore these and we custom chose the font to be classic and feminine. I love these for both indoors in our pots and outside in the garden. I’m stocking up on these as gifts for friends, teachers, and really anyone!
